Previous convictions for driving under the influence (DUI) would be discovered during a basic background check, correct?
Not necessarily.
In some states, a DUI conviction may not be reflected on the criminal record, but instead only be found through a separate, extensive motor vehicle review through the appropriate Department of Motor Vehicles.
When you hire someone who will be driving a company car or driving during business hours, you need to be confident that you are selecting the right candidate. Failure to do so would not only create an unsafe work environment, but could open your company up to extensive liability. A search of an applicant’s motor vehicle history will allow you to identify:
- Status and class of driver’s license
- Violations
- Revocations and suspension
- DUI information
Including a motor vehicle history report in your background check package will allow you to hire and select drivers with confidence. Please contact us for additional information on how we can best serve you.
